Tatami Artisan

An eighteenth-generation Tatami craftsman from a family established in 1690 during the Genroku era of the Edo period. He has supplied tatami to esteemed institutions such as Konkaikōmyō-ji — one of Kyoto's Four Head Temples — as well as to Noh stages and other ceremonial spaces. His work, marked by precision and dignity, has been recognized with top honors at the Kyoto Tatami Craftsmanship Competition. The refined beauty of his meticulous detailing lends a quiet tension and harmony to every space he serves.
